A number of readers have emailed me this question, so I will answer here.
Please remember this is just my opinion and how I do things. you do not have to do what I suggest!
I recommend buying 1 newspaper per member of your family. We usually get 4, one is delivered and the other three I buy at the store. Sometimes I will buy less and others I will buy more. It all depends on the coupons that week. If there are an abundance of coupons for items I use a lot or know will be free (or close to it)when a sale comes along I buy 6-10 newspapers. If the coupons are so-so or just plain terrible I will only buy 1, sometimes 0. I like to have an even number of papers in case a bogo sale comes along.
Why do I have the paper delivered if I am going to buy some at the store any way? 1. I am very impatient! I like to look at my paper before getting dressed and feeding the kids. 2. I am able to decide how many papers to get based on what coupons are included 3. I know how many inserts to look for in the papers I buy at the store(sometimes they will be missing so always check!) 4. I am guaranteed 1 set of coupon even if we get too busy to go get more 5. If I am missing an insert I can call and have a new paper delivered, if the one I buy from the store is missing an insert I am out of luck and the money I paid for the paper.

I think that is great advice! I don't get a newspaper delivered. I just go and buy papers after church every Sunday. I usually buy between 2 and 10. Lately it's been 2, just because I've been lazy with clipping coupons, and my binder is starting to get overstuffed! But then a great deal comes along & I could kick myself in the butt for not buying more papers. My MIL also gives me her coupons after she clips the ones that she wants. I also wanted to say that I really LOVE the new background! It looks awesome & it's much easier to read! Your doing a great job!
I get one delivered and look the inserts over. If there are really good ones for things that we eat, I will buy an extra 4-6 depending on how many ECB's I have. I know that the first weekend after New Years will be a huge insert Sunday so I may buy more then.
4 inserts sounds good to me too. Looking over the coupons before buying more also sounds good.

I get so lazy with clipping too! I always take every insert apart and lay the same pages together so I only clip once each coupon but through 4-8 sheets. I used to have my grandma save her coupons for me but I would forget to get them. I think someone else was getting them from her before me, so I felt kind of bad taking them anyway.

New Year paper?? Would that be the one that comes out on the 28th or the 4th??
Anon. I think it will be the one on the 4th. The 28th shouldn't have any coupons because of Christmas and the new year
