He Woke Me Up at 4 AM for This...

My husband has to be at work pretty early in the morning. Monday last week he was looking for munchies before heading out. Below is what he found when he opened a box of cakesters I purchased at Walgreens the day before...

Three of the six packages were not sealed on one end. He came into the bedroom, woke me up, and made me look. I groggily told him I would take care of it(and refrained from yelling "LEAVE ME ALONE!).

Up close picture showing these have no creases or glue from being sealed...

Good thing he opened the box up side down. If he hadn't he would have A) grabbed a pack that was sealed right and not discovered the 3 goof ups until later(and wouldn't have disturbed me at 4 AM) or B) he would have grabbed a dud and it would have fallen on the floor.

Oh, and I guess I need to watch expiration dates at Walgreens as well. These expired in May.

When I called Kraft they were very apologetic about the packaging error and said they would be sending me a coupon for a replacement with in the next 7-10 days). The coupon arrived only 4 days later! I was happy the call went straight to a person who could help me! Wonderful customer service:)

This is just weird. Our food supply is becoming more and more unsafe. This should never happen. So many tainted products and recalls these days. Too many for me. That is why I am trying to stick to from scratch cooking.

I am hapy you recieved stellar customer service. I am a supervisor in the same industry and when you have employees that are hired to catch these defects miss,it is embrassing. But they go at such a high rate of speed on the belts and a split second off from watching the line (look at the time, someone calls for you , etc...) and you miss it! I am sure an investigation was done on this. Even though your product is a competitor, I wouldn't want this to happen.

That's so odd! It cracked me up that your hubby woke you up to show you. He couldn't just have left you a note? lol

I have gotten expired food products at Walgreens also, so I now always check the dates. Sorry to hear that your hubby woke you up so early though!!!

I'm not surprised you got expired goods from Wags. I used to work for a 24/hr store. When i first started it was always a routine task to check the dates of certain stuff. They'd have a weekly list and monthly list and 90 date list, just depends on the item type. But after my first manager moved none of the new ones even knew of the "lists" And thus, none of the managment botherd to print up new lists or would set aside time to take care it. It became the "when we have nothing else to do check dates" thing, probably is sometimes we'd have plenty of work and since we didn't make it a priority sometimes expired stuff was on the shelf. I enjoyed vhecking dates and liked that part of the job but some managers save it for last because they have pressure to get other things done, like resets and cleaning and blah blah. So I've gotten in the habit to check dates at most places.
