Walgreens + CVS 6/07

Walgreens

7 newspapers 10.50 (1.50 each)

used 3 $2 RR's from last week

Total was 4.50
saved $6 in coupons

CVS

I planned to buy 8 of the visibly smooth dove deodorants, but they didn't have a sigh up saying they were on sale 2/$5 so I used a rain check to get some freebies instead.

2 bic soleil razor handles w/ 2 cartridges 11.98(5.99 each)
-2$2 printables= 3.99 each
2 4pack soleil refills 15.98(7.99 each)
-2 free refills wyb handle coupons= free

also used a $4/$20 coupon(emailed to me by CVS) and $2 ecbs

total was 3.36(1.98 tax) on gift card, no oop(out of pocket)
saved 33.34, 25.98 in coupons
got back 2 $6 ecbs

I asked about the $5 ecb on pampers deal after my first transaction- I had the page printed so she would know what I was talking about. She said they would honor the deal if the ecbs didn't print, up to 3 times(the $5 ecb part isn't listed in the ad). So I went back and got those.

3 pamper's diapers 26.97

also used 3.99, 3.99, 6.00, and 6.00 in ecbs

total was 7.43(.44 in tax)on gift card, no oop
saved 37.91, 19.98 in coupons
got back $15 in ecbs

I forgot to hand her my 3 $1 coupons so she gave me $3 in cash for those!

Totals for the week:

how did you get the money on the gift card? Was that something you put on the gift card yourself? Just wondering I see that alot and was wondering if I am missing something.

I used a get a $10 gift card with new/transferred prescription coupon when I filled one of my husbands medicines. CVS takes competitors pharmacy coupons in case you come across other stores coupons but none for CVS.

I wish the Dallas Sunday newspaper was only $1.50. I have the Sunday paper delivered for $7.50/month. It is now $3.00 at Wal-Mart or $5.00 for a double pack at Wal-Mart. So only on weeks where it has many inserts will I buy more than 1.

Lisa-WOW! that is outrageous. Now I feel bad for being upset the price went up on ours by .25 . Last week they were 1.25 and this week I couldn't figure out why my total was so high. I was not happy when I saw they increased the price. Thanks for putting things in perspective for me.

Have you looked into buying whole inserts from coupon clipping services? I'm not sure how much those are but I'm thinking less than $3 for sure.

How do I find a coupon clipping service to buy the inserts from? I am rather new to this and would like to become a pro at saving money for my family. Thanks.

you can by whole inserts here - http://www.couponsthingsbydede.com/Whole_Inserts_s/21.htm The prices vary based on how "hot" the coupons are, how many are in the insert, and how old the insert is(I saw .25 up to 1.20) plus my shipping charges where either 2.90 for the cheaper service and 5.xx for the more expensive service. For me, buying t the local store is the cheaper option but if your newspaper is expensive and you want multiple copies the clipping service might be a better option. I would also check ebay.

Thanks for the link where to buy whole inserts. I sent my mom a link too because her newspaper does not always have all of the coupons compared to what I see in my newspaper. I will keep this in mind when I feel it is a week I would want to buy another newspaper.

this might sound too crazy for you, but I get tons of newspapers every week without paying a penny for them...one of the schools in my area has a paper recycling dumpster in front of it as a fundraiser (they get x amount of money for each pound of paper they recycle through this company)...so I went to the gas stations that are closest to my house, explained the situation, and some of them agreed to save me the Sunday papers that they don't sell. I go and pick them up on Monday mornings. I also go "dumpster diving" at some gas stations that have told me they are not "allowed" to save the papers for me but I can get them out of their dumpster if I want (usually the recycling dumpster, so you don't have to worry about them being dirty). Just a suggestion that might help you obtain more newspapers & inserts.

Lisa- your welcome, let me know how it goes if you do buy from a clipping service. I have only bought a few times on ebay.

That's a great suggestion Melissa! Not only are you helping your family save by not buying the paper and getting a ton of coupons you get to add to the school's fundraiser profits. Genius!
