A long with my oldest child starting 1st grade(jeez, I feel so old!), trying to buy a house, and the impending arrival of our 3rd child, I have a few events planned for this blog as well!
~I will be holding at least 4 giveaways this month. The one the week of August 16th is the best so far! Be sure to check back regularly. I hope to have the first giveaway up by the end of this week.
~I also receive a $100 gift card from Meijer late last week. Originally Meijer wanted to sponsor a blog-o-sphere wide back to school campaign using it's network of bloggers. Unfortunately, that fell through due to red tape and all. Instead of letting everyone down they decided to give us each a gift card to use however we want- be it a personal shopping spree or to fulfill any commitments we may have made prior to the red tape getting in the way.
I will be using my $100 gift card to purchase backbacks, school supplies, and snacks for the Fairfield City School District. My goal is at least 5 backpacks full of most of the school supplies an average elementary student would need, with the bonus of snacks! Of course I would love to exceed this goal.
I would also like to issue a challenge to all of my readers: Fill and donate one backpack of supplies to your local school district(or family member in need). With so many unemployeed this year the need is high. This shouldn't be too hard to do for $20 or under with all the great sales!
And if you cannot do $20 because you are having troubles yourself that is okay! You can still help by giving any of your extra free to cheap items. Every pencil, notebook, pair of scissors, and folder you can give will be appreciated.

I am new to blogging and started my own blog about savings and coupons(http://phillips3511.blogspot.com) and have noticed that a lot of blogs offer giveaways for products and gift cards. I signed up with Blogspark recently but was wondering what other companies are out there to sign up with and how do you get involved with such a big company like Meijer?
my best friend hubby has been laid off.. I bought their son a backpack ( well it was the free staples backpack deal ) and i am filling it with schools supplies from the cvs deals. also when they come to visit i sent them 2 bags of groc hime from free to cheap things i purchased. It feels so great to help someone!
That is awesome Angie! It is incredibly stressful to not be able to purchase the basics for back to school(my parents struggled some years due to my father's occupation being so iffy). You are an angel to offer a helping hand. Thank you for sharing!!
Heather- I was contacted by Meijer around Christmas time last year. I am not really sure why but I am glad they reached out to me.
My first giveaways were all paid for by me. Then companies started to contact me to do reviews and giveaways. Other bloggers say to ask the companies you are interested in if they would like to do a giveaway.
The upcoming giveaways I mentioned are all blogsparks so you are on the right track with that. These are my first(I was a little slow to sign up with this company- procrastination and all).
