Have you seen the Betty Crocker fruit snacks with the win one give one sweepstakes on them? This is a great promotion where your child has a chance to win a laptop for themselves AND one for a child in Africa. I entered one of my codes from the boxes that MyBlogSpark and Betty Crocker provided, but I did not win. I still have one code left to enter, if I can find it!
MyBlogSpark and General Mills provided me with two free boxes of these specially marked fruit snacks and made a donation of $25 on my behalf to One Laptop per Child. MyBlogSpark and Betty Crocker have generously offered the same package to one of my lucky readers!
All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what you do to teach your children or grandchildren to give to others. If you don't have children you can either tell what your parents did to teach you to give or what you plan to do to teach this to any kids you may have in the future.
Please be sure to leave a way for me to contact you in your entries so I can contact you if you win(email) !
The giveaway will close Monday (3/29) @ 9 pm est. The winners have 48hrs to email me back with their shipping addresses or alternate winners will be picked.

We teach our children to give what we can to others via toy and clothing donations they have outgrown.
We also lead by example and give of our time via volunteering.
I think that teaching our children to help others is very important. When they go shopping with me, they are on the lookout for items we can purchase for our local food bank. They'll see something on the list and say 'we already have enough of that mom.' And then I'm able to teach them about shopping the deals to help others. We've donated thousands of items to local pantries over the years. The kids help buy the items and also help deliver it too. One of these days we'll be allowed to work together at the food pantry sorting and packing.
We have taught our children to financially give to others thru Operation Christmas Child, and Chaning the World 2x2 (offering in their Sunday School classes). They get so excited to see the shoeboxes out for Operation Christmas Child. We usually have to right then and fill the boxes! :)
When the earthquake struck Haiti in January, my children told me that they needed to give some things to the children who have lost everything. We collected a box full of things and have delivered it to someone I work with who runs a Haitian orphanage.
We're also teaching them that it doesn't always take money, that volunteering or drawing pictures or writing notes. My daughter's preschool class drew pictures around Christmas for residents of a nursing home. She will have the opportunity to visit a nursing home and spread joy and laughter.
My daughter is an animal lover. She volunteers at our local animal shelter and just loves it

When I find a good deal and stock up on something that we won't necessarily use at our house, I tell my daughter we're going to give them to children or families who don't have enough X so she starts to understand some people are in need of things and we can help (she's 2.5).

I teach my son to give back all the time. I took him to El Slavador the country I was born to show him how blessed we are here. When we visited we handed out clothes to the poor. We gave the kids shoes. We handed out cleaned towels and toiletries. We also volunteers once a month.

I always believe that my mom receives a lot of blessings from god for all the good deeds she has done. She loves and helps even those who have treated badly. She inspires me a lot. From my own experience, I know I was very lucky and blessed since I was born, and "karma" is something very real in this world. The more I give away to and share with others, the more God will return them back to me.
my son is young-2, but i have had him help me give money to the veterans organizations outside of grocery stores

Giving to our Church is very important to us. From the time my son was born I would carry him with me to give the offering to church. He is now 4 and loves to put it in himself. Twice he has found a penny on the ground and picked it up and said "I'm going to give this to church". Melts my heart!!

I don't have kids, but I teach the youth group teens I work with that life is about more than boys and friends and school. I try to open their eyes to the poverty around them.

Teach by example-helping the poor with food pantry, Christmas parties for underprivileged children, and many outreaches to show God's love in a practical way. wrestlermom2 at yahoo dot com
