The gardening is going well so far! I would have liked to have more done by now, but having my wisdom teeth pulled last week really kicked my butt. My mouth still hurts from it!
EVERYTHING in my first SFG has sprouted! The radishes and Sugar Snap peas are the fastest growers, it seems.
My chive and dill are growing too. The basil started growing, but it's really tiny and looks like something ate half of it already. No parsley yet.
I planted the 2 raspberry bushes, grape vine, blackberry and blueberry bushes(+ 3 more I went back later for) I got from Meijer last week. I also built another SFG and just planted pole beans, eggplant, and bell peppers there last night. I have the other squares for that bed planned out, just didn't have time to plant the rest then. I need one more and that should be good(for now;) ).I also have the planting arrangements for that bed mapped out. I still need to till and amend the large, direct in the dirt garden area above my Square foot gardens. My husband is supposed to make me 3 or 4 trellis for the climbing plants in the SFGs this weekend.
I have 1 zucchini, 1 acorn squash, 1 butternut squash, 2 watermelon(already planted these in the 2nd SFG), 4 tomato and 8 marigold seedlings so far. Hopefully more will be sprouting in the next week or so.
Here are some gardening resources I have been using, or plan to use this year:
Plant Spacing in a Square Foot Garden
Companion Planting - shows you what you should and should NOT plant next to each plant
I haven't used this yet, but Frugal Canning had a link to The Farmer's Garden, a site where you can locate others who want to buy, sell, swap or give away excess produce. The site is free! Kinda reminds me of Craig's list. The site only had one listing in a 100 mi radius of me so far but I plan to check back later and possibly list somethings for trade/giveaway if my garden does well enough.
I've also added some gardening blogs to my bloglist if you can't get enough of gardening.
Now I have tons of plants I can't identify in my yard! I'm hoping someone here can tell me what I'm looking at. Or do you know of a good gardening forum with lots of memebers. All the ones I find in my searches have been tiny. I'll limit myself to 3 unidentifiable at a time though...
The first one is a tree. I *think*(okay, more like HOPE) it's a cherry tree. The blossoms were bright pink until they opened and then they turned completely white. You can see some of the cherry looking dangalies from last year that no one picked(because the house was bank owned then). Can anyone confirm this is or isn't a cherry tree? I haven't found a house anywhere around us with a similar tree or I would ask the owners. I also can't find one on the internet that looks similar.
There are some bushes near my back porch that I don't know about either.

I think the tree is a cherry also, but don't know what variety.
An excellent gardening forum is gardenweb dot com. They have tons of members and a whole lot of forums dedicated to specific things, like trees, fruits, roses, etc. You'll want some good clear shots of the plants if you want them to make an i.d., but they have always been able to help me.
Thanks Heather! I'm going to check it out now.
Oh your garden looks fantastic. I a couple weeks everything will be fillin in lush.
Thank you for linking up @ Money Saving Maine-iac!
The last picture looks like a Rhododendron bush to me.
second vote for gardenweb! make sure to check out the winter sowing forum while you're there!
I'm not a gardener but that tree almost looks like a crab apple we had in michigan years ago... but not sure. I'm terrible at remembering what things are! :)
